Best of Kakheti is a 2 days tour, which geographically consists of eastern Georgia, namely Kakheti region. Kakheti is distinguished by diverse natural and cultural monuments. You will visit unique cultural heritage of Kakheti, such as Alaverdi cathedral, Gremi royal citadel, city of Sighnaghi, etc.

Kakheti is prominent for being the center of Georgian wine-making. Here, you will have the possibility to try tasty Georgian wine and delicious local dishes.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: TBILISI – DAVID GAREJA – BODBE – SIGHNAGHI

In the morning you will travel towards David Gareja monastery, which is one of the most well-known historical monuments of eastern Georgia. David Gareja monastery complex was founded in the VI century. It was built by one of the thirteen Assyrian monks. You will visit Lavra cave monastery, which is the central monastery of the complex and Udabno monastery. You will also visit Bodbe nunnery. Enclosed in Bodbe Cathedral is the grave of St. Nino, the most remarkable female figure in the early history of Christianity in Georgia. You will also visit the city of Love – Sighnaghi, from where  you will enjoy picturesque views of Alazani valley and great Caucasus range. Later, you will visit Georgian wine house, where you will try tasty Georgian wine.

DAY 2: TSINANDALI – GREMI CITADEL – ALAVERDI CATHEDRAL – TELAVI – TBILISI

In the morning you will continue the tour to Tsinandali. You will see the museum of the famous aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze and wonderful Tsinandali botanical garden. You will also visit winery, where you can taste traditional Georgian wine. Later, you will visit Gremi royal citadel and church (XVI century) and Alaverdi Cathedral (XI century) – one of the major tourist attractions  located on Alazani Valley. Afterwards, you will visit the palace and museum of King Erekle II in Telavi. In the evening, you will drive back to the capital Tbilisi.
